Our recent Diaspora Dialogue was a powerful gathering; educational, inspiring, and deeply reflective. Attendees walked away with new historical knowledge and a stronger awareness of our shared ancestry. Most importantly, the event created a safe space for participants to share openly, be vulnerable, and learn from one another.

This conversation was the first of many. At International Child Advancement, we are committed to continuing to convene our community to explore how Africans and African Americans can:

  • Heal from historical events that continue to impact our communities

  • Foster mutual understanding and empathy

  • Build unity and collaboration

Insights and Actions

Our panelists offered valuable guidance that we can all carry forward:

  • Keep conversations going to better understand each other’s experiences

  • Learn and teach our history, including pre-colonial narratives

  • Approach this shared journey with empathy and openness

  • Stay curious and willing to learn

Gratitude to Our Community Leaders

We extend heartfelt thanks to our moderator Gizelle Hinson, MSW, MSEd, and to our panelists Jim Anderson, Ekaete Bailey, MBA, Ras Jomo, Asiaki Dede Adjei-Barrett, Ph.D., and Bijoux Bahati. Their wisdom, vulnerability, and courage guided this dialogue and reminded us of the power of collective learning.
