Gratitude for Food Distribution at Kanyaruchinya Camp

Updated: Jan 15, 2023

To everyone that supported our 555 Campaign...THANK YOU!

Together, we raised $1,285 and brought hope to displaced families situated at Kanyaruchinya camp, Democratic Republic of Congo. With these funds, we distributed meals to 100 children and 120 adults, mothers were provided with sacks of rice, blankets, clothing and funds to purchase basic necessities. The recipients were extremely grateful for the nourishment and provisions.

The people we helped are just like you and me - they're fathers, mothers, daughters, sons, sisters, grandparents and children. All hoping to live in peace and provide for their families but unfortunately, their towns and homes were seized by a rebel group known as M23. The UN estimates that over 400,000 people have been internally displaced in Eastern D.R. Congo and have made their ways to camps such as Kanyaruchinya, fleeing M23's violence.

In these camps people are dealing with overcrowding, unsanitary conditions and increased cholera cases creating a condition ripe for the spreading of disease and the threat of violence towards the most vulnerable - children and women.

We hope to do more. There are thousands of people at this camp including children who have been separated by their parents who need care, nutrition and their day-to-day needs met. We seek monetary donations for the following:

· Food

· Potable water

· Clothing, shoes

· Tarp to cover their makeshift tents
