Ready, Set, School! Event

August 24, 2019 was a very special day for International Child Advancement. We held our first back to school event to benefit refugee children in Buffalo, NY!

We thank the WNY community for supporting us in a big way by donating back to school supplies! A special shout out to Dick Wexler of Wexler Marketing Co. Inc. for donating boxes of supplies! We were able to provide over 80 refugee children with backpacks and school supplies. Overage supplies were donated to the Faith Keepers School and RAHAMA nonprofit organization (Resources and Help Against Marital Abuse).

In addition to the back to school supplies, we offered free haircuts for the parents and children, free lunch, snacks and free mani-pedis!

The event could not have been a success without the following partners:

Venue: Christ is the Answer International Fellowship Church

Mani/Pedis and free haircuts: Salon de Coquette & Haircuts for Those in Need

Lemonade Stand competition: Aime Mukendi of The Shift & Crew

Sheets of pizza: Pipeworx By Minx Plumbing Co.

Sheet of Pizza: JJ's Casa-Di-Pizza

Drop-off sites: Choco-Logo Confectionery Design, Sasmita Batik Indonesia, Larkin Center of Commerce and Salon de Coquette

Agencies that presented to the parents: UnitedHealthcare Community Plan, International Institute, Northland Workforce Training Center and Buffalo Prenatal-Perinatal Network

Lemonade stand Judges which included the Buffalo Police

Volunteers: ICA, M&T Bank, CITI, and Christ is the Answer volunteers

We are extremely grateful for everyone's generosity. We will hold the Back to School event again this year, therefore we are starting to accept school supply donations (new items) and corporate sponsorships to help cover our expenses. Inquiries can be sent to: info@childadvancement.org
