One of the biggest challenges faced by refugees and immigrants in the U.S.A., is finding employment therefore caring for their families/children often proves difficult. They not only worry about putting food on the table and keeping a roof over their heads, but also the additional financial strain of purchasing school supplies for their children.
According to the National Retail Federation, it was estimated that families with children in elementary school through high school planned to spend an average $696.70 per child in 2019. With such high costs in mind and wanting to ensure refugee and immigrant children can start school with everything they need, we held our first back to school event in 2019 relieving the families of these expenses so they can focus on paying for their housing, medical and transportation needs.

2021 Back to School Event
Our incredible community did it again! Thanks to you, we secured and filled over 200 backpacks for students at International Preparatory School at Grover Cleveland and Christ is the Answer International Church! This year, not only did we provide school supplies but we also partnered with M&T Bank's Multicultural Banking Team to deliver a financial empowerment session with the children to provide them with basic knowledge of banking and budgeting.

2020 Back to School Event
Thanks to the Buffalo Community and our New York City friends, we successfully packaged and delivered food and school supplies to 140 pre-registered children and their families. Surplus school supplies were donated to The Compass House - a nonprofit organization that assists homeless teens.

2019 Back to School Event
Thanks to our amazing local community and school supply donors from beyond the Buffalo borders, we were able to collect enough school supplies to benefit over 100 underprivileged children in Buffalo, NY which included refugee children, Rahama organization (Resources and Help Against Marital Abuse) and Faith Keepers School (Native American school).
